California Deposition Reporters

What is Remote Court Reporting?

California Deposition Reporters specializes in remote deposition software, which allows streaming of our clients to send the video, audio, and real-time text or it allows our clients to receive video, audio, and real-time text remotely and securely without being present at the origination location.  Stream video and text. Our clients can stream audio remotely as well through video depositions. Our clients can annotate, chat, and more.  The remote video depositions streaming feature allows our clients to view or participate from any device, including computers, phones, tablets, and even video conferencing endpoints.

Our clients can follow along while in the web browser using search and annotation.  The text streaming is compatible with all software and can be output to any text viewer software live, such as LiveNote, Summation, or Trial Director. One feature of remote video depositions software is the security group or private chat with anyone on our clients’ trial team. This is including experts, co-counsel, professional consultants, insurance adjusters. Even perhaps a client that can’t attend the deposition and wants to be part of the process.

The chat feature allows participation and input from any of the attendees chosen. Instead of waiting to have an expert consultant read the opposing side’s opinions and then testing the opinion at trial, our clients can receive secure chats from an expert live with the deposition of the opposing counsel’s expert. This allows our clients to communicate securely to get questions or suggestions an expert may have while examining opposing counsel’s expert.

Remote Court Reporting

Remote Court Reporting Video Depositions & Exhibits

Exhibits will be presented to the witness during the deposition in real-time, without having to upload them.  Our clients can annotate them to highlight the area of interest. Remote deposition streaming video, audio, and text are multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider.  “To stream,” is a verb and describes the process of providing media in this matter. The term “streaming” deals with the delivery method of the medium rather than the medium and is an alternative to file downloading.

Live streaming is internet content that is delivered in real-time similar to live broadcasts, but broadcast content is over the air via a broadcast signal.  Live internet streaming utilizes source media. For example, through a video camera, an audio interface, and screen capture software, and a codec to digitize the content.  Live streaming, on the other hand, doesn’t need to be recorded at the point of origination, although it can be.

HD Streaming Content With Video Depositions

The demand for HD streaming content has led the industry to develop a number of technologies that are optimized for streaming HD content without forcing the user to install new networking cables.  Media streaming today is either live or on-demand. Live streams generally are provided by a means called “true streaming.”  True streaming sends the information directly to the computer or device without saving the file to disc. On-demand streaming is delivered by a means called progressive streaming or progressive download.

Progressive streaming saves the file to a hard disc and then plays from that location. On-demand streams are often saved to hard discs and servers for extended amounts of time, while the live streams are only available at one time only. Streaming media is being coupled with the use of social media.  For example, sites such as YouTube encourage social interaction in webcasts through features such as live chat, online surveys, and more. Streaming media is increasingly being used for social business and e-learning. We also offer California Court Interpreters and many other services.

Remote & Video Depositions

The Remote Deposition Services software runs inside a web browser. This makes using our services is easier than ever because you don’t have to install any software. Our clients can link participants together who are on a variety of devices. For instance, as the deposition transmits in high-definition video, they can be in the video conference room or on a computer, smartphone or a tablet. Our video depositions software also allows us to record the video conference directly to a DVD during the conference so a video can be kept on record.

Attorneys will often attempt to keep the costs of litigation low. To do this, they will sometimes skip out on important tasks. One of these important tasks is the need to videotape depositions taken.  Many experts have taken on videotaping depositions to the point where it seems to be common knowledge now that if you’re unwilling to go to the expense of videotaping a person’s deposition, that person’s deposition must not be critical enough to take. As court reporters, we want to make sure that we report every detail. And what better way to report a real-time occurrence than by using Remote Deposition Services equipment.
